No. Both documents are valid methods of demonstrating compliance to the same building code. Florida law provides manufacturers alternative means of demonstrating compliance so long as the products are tested or evaluated to the applicable standards. Doors, by themselves, cannot be design pressure rated. Only complete assembled and framed door units or door systems are rated.
There is no test for doors or windows specific to wind speed. All industry test standards establish design pressure ratings. The design pressure required for a specific installation depends on several factors (not just basic wind speed) and should be determined by an architect or engineer of record.
Unfortunately, no. Masonite is only authorized by the fire rating agency to apply fire labels at our manufacturing locations. Intertek (Warnock Hersey) can be contracted, at a fee, to conduct a field inspection and label a door that is installed.
Smoke and draft control is a function of the gaskets that are applied to a door unit upon installation in a home. Any positive pressure rated door is eligible to become a smoke and draft control door when Category H, Smoke and Draft Control gaskets are applied.
To qualify for the US Federal Tax Credit, a building envelope component (door or window) must meet or exceed the criteria established by the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) for the climate zone in which the product is installed. Masonite steel and fiberglass doors with polyurethane foam core have an estimated thermal performance value of R-10. This R-value calculation is based on common published conductivities of door component materials (i.e. foam, steel and fiberglass facings).
